What does my appointment include?

A MIAM is an initial meeting with a qualified family mediator to discuss your situation and explore whether mediation could help you resolve family disputes. If you’re separating or divorcing, or need to make arrangements for your children or finances, a MIAM gives you the opportunity to explain your circumstances in a confidential, supportive environment. Your mediator will explain how mediation works, discuss your options and help you understand the next steps available to you. A MIAM is usually attended individually, so you can speak openly about your concerns without needing to meet the other person at this stage. Take the first step towards a clearer way forward.
